On a farm it is like a 24/7/365 job, so if you do most of it by yourself, all the work that needs to be done doesn't get done 50 percent of the year. That is just the way farm life is.
When there are a lot of people living on the farm, everyone needs to put in their share of the work, in other words pull their own weight. If they don't, the farm will eventually go to HELL.
